Access to the island is either by Vela Luka to the west, ferry port that connects it to the city of Split in 2:45, or by the city of Korcula is a 20 min journey from Orebic on Peljesac peninsula.
Connections for fast pedestrian boat put the towns of Vela Luka Korcula and Hvar 1h and a link also exists between the cities of Split and Korcula in 2:40.

South of Dalmatia, below the island of Hvar, Korcula Island is a unique jewel among the islands of the Mediterranean.
Long and 47 km wide by 8 km in length, it offers an indented coastline with many bays, headlands and islands; its dense vegetation lush forests earned him the nickname of Black Island.

Korcula has a magnificent and authentic wilderness: its forests, its aromatic and therapeutic plants, orchids and also its vineyards, olive trees, orange trees. With its varied wildlife and rich in fish and shellfish clear sea, the island of Korcula is a true ecological paradise of the Mediterranean.
Its particularly mild climate, not too hot in the summer with the refreshing mistral, not too cold in winter and strong sunlight makes it an attractive destination for all seasons.

Korcula is an island steeped in history and rich in legends; we find traces of prehistoric and archeological sites in different locations of the island. The islanders have kept their traditions and respect life in harmony with nature, almost every family has olive trees and vineyards. The dry stone terraces on sloping land, the conical roof huts and small stone houses are fully part of the landscape. Dances, songs, traditional and folk performances are vivid and gastronomy meets local products and recipes of yesteryear.

Vela Luka, the largest city on the island is nestled in a sheltered bay, ideal for navigation. Rich in natural beauty with its coves and islets, Proizd, attractive for its beautiful beach with white pebbles 30 minutes by boat from the city center. With a strong cultural heritage, Vela Luka houses several museums which showcases archaeological collections, drawings and sculpture, ship models, ceramics, etc.

It contains one of the largest prehistoric caves in Europe: Vela Splila. It is also a city of traditional songs that are part of local life, perpetuated by cappella, a cappella singing groups. Vela Luka has also developed a medical tourism around its natural therapeutic mud. A dynamic and vibrant city, especially in the summer with weekly folklore evenings, a jazz festival, night fishermen, diving competitions and other festivities around the tradition.
8 kms east Blato, a small town in the interior is one of the oldest inhabited places on the island. It is surrounded by 3 collinesettraversée by a main road lined with linden trees, the longest after that of Berlin. There are some ancient churches, baroque style buildings, the old houses of the city and an ethnic house, testament to the life spent with objects, clothing and antique furniture.
Blato is surrounded by a fertile agricultural plain with vineyards and olive groves; of both sides, the coast offers many beaches more or less isolated, of various sizes, with trees or rocks, bays, and populated the small resort Prizba south with its large pebble beach.
Blato in Korcula, the road passes through ancient villages which Smokvica inhabited since prehistoric times, known for the quality of its production of olive oil and wine and Brna port 4 kms, surrounded by a forest of Pinset known for its mud baths.
