Islands of Croatia
The Croatian archipelago with 1,244 islands is the second largest in the Mediterranean behind Greece.
The Croatian islands have been inhabited since ancient Greece (Hvar was inhabited 3000 years BC).
Today, about 50 islands are inhabited (at least one person living permanently), totaling more than 132,000 inhabitants.

Access to the Croatian islands by ferry and catamaran boat
Three islands are connected to the mainland by a bridge; Krk, Pag and Murter
The links between the mainland and the islands are provided by the national shipping companyJadrolinija with its fleet of ferries and boats catamarans for foot passengers.
