Zadar is a 3 thousand years old city and has a vast historical, cultural, spiritual and monumental heritage. Its ancient fortifications contain the legacies of three periods of construction: the ancient times, the epoch of Venice and the Austrian one, which gives it its originality. You will see many sacred monuments, including the Church of St. Donat, iconic symbol of the city; the archaeological forum and the Roman road, museums exhibiting rare pieces: antique glass museum, archaeological museum, gold and silver (permanent exhibition of sacred art), historical buildings including the first university in Croatia or the first public garden.
