2025: 1100 years of the Croatian Kingdom
Medieval Greater Croatia, an independent Croatian kingdom, was founded in 925 with the coronation of King Tomislav, the first King of Croatia. Tomislav I received the title of king from the hands of the Archbishop, with the approval of Pope John X at the Council of Split.This coronation marked the official recognition of the Croatian Kingdom by the papacy, confirming its entry into the circle of European Christian kingdoms.
A prosperous period of territorial, economic and cultural expansion would last for 2 centuries.
